Thanks to the Filipino Catholic Families of St. Luke's Parish for their contributions toward the remodeling of the Social Hall and Meeting Room restrooms. Their generosity ensures that future generations of parishioners will have handicapped accessible, modern, clean restrooms when they visit St. Luke's. Thank you all very much!!
While activiely participating in the life of the pairsh, the Filipino Catholic Families of Saint Luke welcome Filipinos and their families into the parish, recognizing that their gifts from the Filipino Catholic Faith and culture enrich the whole faith community.
Moreover, the Filipino Catholic Families of Saint Luke assist Filipinos and their families so that all find a welcoming home in the Stockton neighborhood.
The Santo Niño de Cebú is venerated by many Filipino Catholics. It is the oldest religious Christian image in the Philippines, and was originally given in 1521 as a baptismal gift by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan via Antonio Pigafetta, who physically handed it to Lady Humamay, the chief consort of Rajah Humabon, along with a statue of the Virgin Mary and the bust of the Ecce Homo.
The image merited papal recognition on 28 April 1965, when Pope Paul VI issued a papal bull for the Canonical Coronation and Pontifical High Mass via the papal legate to the Philippines, Cardinal Ildebrando Antoniutti. to mark the 400th anniversary of the icon's finding.
The Holy Child's feast is liturgically celebrated every third Sunday of January. The image is one of the most beloved and recognizable cultural icons in the Philippines, found in both religious and secular areas.
